B2MeM Prompt and Path: “It was the possibility of darkness that made the day seem so bright.” Stephen King (Green Path, Square One)
Format: ficlet
Genre: vignette
Rating: PG
Warnings: mild angst, references to darker bits of canon
Characters: Beleg, Gwindor
Pairings: N/A
Creator’s Notes: I was aiming to follow the spirit of the prompt quite straightforwardly, really, but I seem to have given it a bit of a  twist.
Summary: Before Mirkwood, there was another great forest that fell under nightshade and Sauron himself, who was in those days but the servant of the Black Foe in the North, invaded it with fire and darkness and corrupted it. Treebeard knew it, before its fall, and sings with regret of the pine trees of Dorthonion. It was here that Beleg, who had once wandered freely in all the forests of the land, found Gwindor, who had only just escaped from thralldom in the Iron Hells of Angband, and, aiding him, persuaded him to turn around, in an attempt to rescue another man from the threat of the same thralldom. A conversation between them.

Summary:Pencil rendering of a photo found online. It's over forty years since I tried any serious drawing so don't expect "wonderful things".

B2MeM Prompt and Path: Purple path; Square 4, Wild Card--"Complete any prompt from the Orange path" (non-fiction). I chose Worldbuilding.
Format: Essay
Genre: Non-fiction
Rating: G
Warnings: n/a
Characters: Hobbits
Pairings: n/a
Creator’s Notes (optional): This essay is basically backstory I have constructed for my version of the Shire, concentrating on a few aspects of Shire society, and some explanation for how I came up with that backstory.
Nearly all quoted references in this section are either from the Prologue of LotR, or from The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien's Letter #214. I hope to later footnote this more thoroughly.
Summary: Tolkien gives us a lot of information about the society of the Shire, but only some of the particulars. Coming up with details is up to the author of the fanfic; here are a few of mine.

B2MeM Prompt and Path: Act of Kindness, Blue Path.
Format: Art.
Genre: Fluff.
Rating: General audiences.
Warnings: Silliness.
Characters: Legolas, Gimli.
Pairings: Legolas/Gimli.
Creator’s Notes (optional): Not my fault: I asked my f-list if they wanted any fanart and Legolas in a woolly jumper was requested. This isn't so strange a request once you've seen the behind the scenes photos for the BBC's 1980s audio adaptation:)
Summary: Legolas is very happy with his jumper from Gimli.

B2MeM Prompt and Path:Tales around the fire, Red
Format:Short story
Characters:Samwise, Elladan, Elrohir, Elanor
Creator’s Notes:Tolkien provided the sandbox, I merely play with the bucket and shovel he left behind. No profit of any kind is made from my fanworks.
Summary:It is written that near the end of his life, after his beloved Rosie had died, Samwise went to the Havens and took ship across the Sundering Sea to the Far West. On the journey to the Havens he spent a night with his daughter Elanor and left the Red Book with her where it remained for long years.

B2MeM Prompt and Path: “Each night, when I go to sleep, I die. And the next morning, when I wake up, I am reborn.” Mahatma Ghandi. Green Path.
Format: Drabble
Genre: Gen/Character Study
Rating: PG
Warnings: Implied character death
Characters: Glorfindel
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes (optional): This follows the assumption that Glorfindel of Gondolin and Rivendell were the same, and he returned to Middle-earth in the early Third Age. Also, I'm at the end of the Green Path! Hooray!
Summary: Sometimes the line between past and present, dreams and reality, can be blurred.
