I have a question for the creator of Archery in Arda card.

It says we should create art about famed archers, their bows and their legends. Does it absolutely need to be art or would an essay for example be acceptable as well?

Since I made that card... I see art in the broadest meaning possible: from a painting, manip to stories, vignettes and essays. So yes, written forms as art are just as valid to me.

Haha, and here I thought you meant visual arts, such as paintings, and didn't play the card even though I claimed it. XD Not that I don't have more than enough other cards. More than enough... Really.

Well...

*pulls archery card back into prompts list*

I suppose that's the libriarian side of me, looking at words like, ok arts as a broader term, narrow terms could be written arts, visual arts, performing arts ect ect. /geek mode off

My dear rhapsody, I will forever worship the ground you walk on!

One "Fingon the Suicidal" or "Who the hell carries a harp to Angband?!" essay is coming right up! :D

(okay, maybe not right away... more like as soon as I find enough time :P)

I so want to read that essay! I always wondered about why an elf would bring a harp with him on a rescue mission, I mean dude, wth?

Me too! That question just never gets old. It's such a weird thing to do. Adorably quirky, in a way, but seriously... wth!

LOL Or a Maedhros who is hurting glaring at Fingon and saying: a harp? That's all you got to play tunes for me as I hang here? This card could work so great with the TV tropes prompt )63 "I call her Vera". Would he have named his harp I wonder now?

Knowing these Elves, he probably did. Now, WHAT name... that's the question! XD

Lol!

This was actually the question/note number 10 on the list that I made while reading Silm for the second time ages ago. ("Who the hell carries a harp to Angband?!! What did Fingon think; that he would bore Morgoth to death with his singing and playing on harp and then go and save Maedhros?!") I mean, huh???

But seriously, why would anyone in the right mind carry a harp to the most dangerous place in Middle-earth? It would make perfect sense, if Fingon would know he'd need it to find Maedhros, but he didn't. I want an explanation!

I came up with a theory, but... well, we'll just have to see how that's going to work out. :/

[identity profile] havamahal.livejournal.com 2012-03-23 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he had to busy himself with something to keep his mind of the fact that he was going somewhere, where he would most likely die. ;)

Maybe it was something that was added later, but it's there and that's what I have to work with. ;) I want to disect that mission of his and see what was going on in his head. It would be interesting to do a myth vs. truth essay (we can get rid of... hmm... the harp, Thorondor and 30 years of hanging on Thangorodrim?), but that should probably wait for some other time.
