The BINGO Number for March 28 Is ...

Yes, I am again using the shameless ploy of withholding the BINGO number in order to make sure everyone sees an important announcement.

For the final two days of the event, two of our stampers/mods (Russandol and myself) will be traveling and, therefore, offline. We shuffled around responsibilities so that all B2MeM tasks will continue as usual, and you should have received an email if your stamper will be changing. However, I do want everyone to be aware, since the duties done by five people will be handled by three, and the time it takes to get things done may be a bit longer as a result. I'd kindly request that participants wait three days before querying about any missing stamps.

Furthermore, if you tend to email me or Russandol personally with questions or requests, please use the moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org address instead, beginning on the 29th.

And now for today's number ... :)

Today's BINGO Number

Once you make a significant start on a prompt or prompts for today's number, please leave a comment on this post. Include your author name (if your LJ handle is different from the name listed for you on the B2MeM site) and the names of any cards for which you've completed prompts. If you've publicly posted a piece and would like to share a link so that others may enjoy your work, please feel free to do so.

If for some reason you cannot access LiveJournal or leave comments, please email the required information to moderator@silmarillionwritersguild.org.

Comments on this post will close in 48 hours, at roughly midnight GMT on March 29. You must leave a comment or email us before comments close in order to receive your stamps.

I love that idea of a Game of Thrones cross over. I have been thinking about writing Aragorn's grandmother as a bit like Lady Olenna Redwyne-Tyrell, Loras' grandma, the Queen of Thorns. Problem with that is the research into the Northern Numenoreans would be a major pain in the ass (and it always kind of depresses me) and would take me forever. Not exactly what I want as a one-off challenge fic, but that would give me a Bingo if her number was called on the Women of Arda card. I think I did miss one prompt on the Sons of Feanor card. How is that even possible???

Yeah, Aragorn's family history is not ... the most cheerful. But that sounds really cool! You should pursue it, though it does seem to be a lot of effort for a one-off challenge fic...

Tbh, I was thinking of writing the 'Maglor as regent' and "Clash of Kings' prompts together as if they were an episode of the HBO tv show. Though how I would fit the concept sexposition into it remains to be seen. Maybe it's better if the number doesn't get called.

Oh, yes! You can fit in the sexposition--I just know you can! I get the distinct impression those scenes do not require a lot of thought. You've heard of "show don't tell" in writing. Well they are "showing it all while telling you background you need to know!" I'd call that lazy writing in any other context, but people expect the nudity from HBO! I'm not really complaining.

There's always Thingol and Melian, I suppose he could be saying how much he doesn't trust those new Noldor chappies running about outside, ahem, his wife's girdle.

And there's always torturexposition, I suppose. (Poor Maedhros.)

The writing for that show is atrocious, but luckily, I watch only for comedy. And for the bad wigs! Loras' wig especially, though I think it's improved this season.

Heh, the amount of nudity on that show is ridiculous. Although, I guess you get what you paid for there...

I actually think that is Loras' real hair and they have a better hairdresser now (I think they needed to enhance the hair style to fit consort to the King!). He needed conditioner in season one. OK. Game of Thrones is not Shakespeare, but I find it madly entertaining TV and far better than the books. Cersei has the bad wig! Although she does look pretty in it.

Oh yeah, the Lannisters have the worst hair. Nothing can top ... Lancel's wig.
