What a convincing look at the Dunedain, and the relationships surrounding Ivorwen, so often defined by loss.

Each relationship seems just as it must have been. Shared loss with the widowed wife of her son. With Adanel that shared loss of contact with their grandson; Adanel who has lost both son and husband, whilst it almost seems as if Ivorwen is grieving so much for her own son, for her son-in-law, for the forced break of the relationship with her daughter, for her other son choosing to distance himself, that she has forgotten that Adanel's loss is even greater. Greater becuase Ivorwen has her husband, still. and what a strong relationship that it.

You have given all these people a reality - it is difficult to imagine they could be anything other than as you write them.
