Thanks! What a nice compliment. I got a kick out of Elrond being a little waspish. People are rarely 100% good-natured all the time. Some of the people who I trust care for me the most are often capable of seeing my faults with crystalline clarity. I had fun extrapolating from the little bit we get of Lindir in LotR that he is more than a bit self-absorbed and also that Elrond would be aware of that and also would compare him to Maglor.

Personally, I love writing Elves; their life histories and deeds tell me that that they had to have had quite complex personalities and relationships among themselves, little of which are detailed in the canon texts, so it leaves a lot of room for character development. There is practically no dialog in The Silmarillion and in LotR we only see Elrond, for example, in a few scenes, but he has this long and complex life story. Don't get me started! I love to talk about writing Elves.
