What a wonderful comment, Anon! Thank you so much. I have to admit that I am not the first person to make Erestor a Noldo or link him with a history beyond the Third Age. But it is a conception that I find very appealing. He is kind of an odd duck in Rivendell for me. I always wanted a backstory and fanfiction is where to find one. I particularly like another Erestor who knows Elrond from the court of Gil-galad in Lindor Even Quicker Than Doubt (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewstory.php?sid=349) by Keiliss (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=49) and a totally different view of him where he comes to Formenos to do an appenticeship with Feanor in By the Light of Roses (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewstory.php?sid=150) by Dawn Felagund (http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewuser.php?uid=1). I stole little bits of Dawn's back story for my Erestor from Dawn--his father is an architect in Tirion! Not a lot else. And I took little or nothing from Keiliss's Erestor. But they are both terrific stories and made me want to try my hand at him.
I love thinking about Elrond and Elros with Maglor and Maedhros, so I am delighted beyond words that you enjoyed them here.
