This could have been written as a hero's point of view. with the man who was fighting for the ultimate good - and he had to do what he did to the man who betrayed him and the Good cause. And how touching it was that he went ahead and buried the man with his wife, because of their deep friendship and brother hood.
And there'd be a lot of comments about how he made the right choice, that it was for the best, that he was the Good Guy, fighting on the right side. But how sad, and how strong and honourable he was to bury his friend with his wife.
It just goes to narrative - winners write the history books. And it should really make us question our choices, when pursuing things like 'the good' or 'security'.
