What an absolutely marvelous story. I've read and written many a tale of the hobbits in the West, but can't remember ever reading one about Bilbo's journey, and the way the elves honored him along the way. Imagining Bilbo and Cirdan conversing (the eldest of their races) is fascinating, as is the entire theme of mortal bodies betraying them not unlike the way the weight of memory eventually betrays the elves.
And now I wonder about the possessions Bilbo left behind in Rivendell. Perhaps you'll be inspired to write a story about Merry (or someone else) finding them, and honoring them as well.
This is my favorite passage: My heart feels that you will benefit from this trip to the West, and that those traveling with you and those who will meet you on those far distant shores will be enriched by whatever time they will spend with you.
