Thank you! I had no clear plan when writing this, and merely handed the story over to Bilbo (and the Ring?) and let the words flow. I half-expected him to actually write the lie (the lie being the version told in the first edition of The Hobbit) but in the end, he decided to postpone the decision. Glad it worked for you!
