Thank you, wheelrider--so glad you liked it. I definitely wanted that "stab in the heart in a good way" with this and not leave the reader completely grief-stricken and without hope. I like to think that Halbarad went out knowing it was his time and at peace with it, just as Aragorn did many years later.
