The Dark Rider's Horses and Other Creatures

When you need a mount for wandering far afield to the furthest reaches of Middle-earth. (This is the stall for all prompts that are set in places in the Years of the Trees and First and Second Ages that do not have stalls of their own, such as Cuiviénen and Angband.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

Earendil/Elwing, het, their canonically young marriage

(Depending on how you want to take it, this prompt could contain underage content.)

Earendil and Elwing got married at the age of 22, which for humans would be fine, but for Elves is ridiculously young, probably not even at the age of puberty yet. Elves are roughly the equivalent of 18 years old at/about age 50, so age 22 for a full elf would be about 8 or 9 for a human. Considering that both have some human blood, they probably at least went through puberty before getting married, but it really doesn't seem like much more than that.

So, how did they figure out their relationship, given their unique statuses as part-human, part-elven (and for Elwing, part-Maia)? And who, if anyone, gave permission for them to be married, or did they just get carried away by their hormones and have a marriage ceremony 'in the moment'?

As explicit or not, as you like and feel comfortable with! It's something I've not really seen much treatment of, and I have a lot more sympathy for Earendil and Elwing after figuring this out.

I've already written fics about their relationship (most prominently "Dear Adar and Naneth...",) but I'm excited to see where others take this!

*excited flail, grabby hands*

Please give me a link to your fic?

http://www.lotrgfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=2138&chapter=1 Chapter One is "Dear Adar And Naneth..." but you might like subsequent chapters (which are linked together by the blood of Doriath's royal family)

I am tracking responses to your prompt. I have very few 'ships, but Earendil/Elwing is one that fascinates me. Blame the lovely song "Evening Star" on In Elven Lands. I love that song.

I look forward to seeing what comes of this one!

I keep coming back and looking at this. Then I smack myself and creep away. I've already written the 'why' of that marriage - political manipulation features large - but recently when I wrote about Elwing in Valinor, it seemed a solid marriage (in other words Earendil 'gets' her), so I feel no guilt. *g*. Just not sure ....

... I will probably come back over the weekend because I have no self control. I only wanted to pick up three prompts. I already have two. I don't know who I'm fooling.

I know I am not helping here, but I would really really love to see your take on this *grins*
