Daisy Gamgee's Fresh Flowers, Herbs and Produce (The Shire)

Daisy Gamgee's Fresh Flowers, Herbs and Produce

The best of the Shire's most famous farms and gardens: come here for the most fragrant flowers of Hobbiton, herbs from Buckland and beyond, including sweet galenas from the Southfarthing, and the freshest and largest vegetables in Arnor. (This stall is for prompts set in the Shire.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

*

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

Well...I wrote a little snippet similar to this once! I could expand on it, maybe? Would that be acceptable? :)

[identity profile] kayleelupin.livejournal.com 2015-03-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! No apologies, after all many people can write for the same prompt! And I didn't get as far as the prompt shows, I just had a small group of them out for a picnic, with one of the lasses playing Bill the Pony. I'm excited if I can use this prompt to make it longer, or I'd be just as excited to see what others do with it! I wasn't accusing you of anything!

[identity profile] kayleelupin.livejournal.com 2015-03-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Please, put the prompt back, it's fine GW! Really!

GW, I feel like we're having a sustained misunderstanding here. This prompt was not my story. I had a drabbleish bit that was somewhat similar to this, but this prompt was enough different that it could go in a lot of directions. After all, these prompts are claimable by any number of people because people can do lots of things with them. And I believe I got my idea for that little bit by reading someone else's (maybe Dreamflower's, or Larner's) story in the first place and wanting to expand on something.

I would very much like other people to have the chance to try their hand at this prompt, and I would like to be able to try it as well. All my little bit was, was the children of Sam, Merry, and I believe Pippin playacting at *leaving* on their fathers' Adventure while going on a picnic. The prompt you left, if I remember rightly (I didn't even think to write it down, though I was going to if/when I got to claim it) could have had them acting out the whole Quest, which is something that could go any possible way.

I am very sorry if I ever gave you the impression I was accusing you of stealing my idea. I was not, and I would love to see this prompt returned so it can be picked up by anyone who would like it. And I, like Dreamflower, don't mind if other people are inspired by my ideas, anyway. Aren't we all here because we were inspired by Tolkien to begin with?

Elanor Gardner, Maid of Queen Arwen

[identity profile] ladyelleth.livejournal.com 2015-03-08 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
At age 15, Elanor became a maid to Queen Arwen of the Reunited Kingdom - the envy of all other Hobbit lasses, or not? Did she go alone, whom did she meet, did she learn anything from Arwen that she later entered into the Red Book? Any first crushes, perhaps, did she thrive under Arwen's wing?

In honour of International Women's Day write about your favoroute hobbit lass: who was she, what is her story? What makes her strong and fantastic?

I've spent the last couple of days staring at this prompt and telling myself that I can't draw to save my life...but the bunnies are nibbling. Sold!

(Though it'll end up looking horrendous, probably)

Family Trees: any character, gen

[personal profile] dreamflower 2015-03-10 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Choose a character from one of the Hobbit family trees, one who has no other information, and create a character profile of him or her, based only on the name, the family and the date of birth.

Frodo's parents: Drogo, Primula, gen, het

[personal profile] dreamflower 2015-03-10 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Why did King Argeleb II grant the Shire to the hobbits? Did he just feel sorry for them? Did they render him some great service? Did he just notice how industrious they were, and think they'd be good Stewards for that land?

Oldbucks to Brandybucks; gen; why the name change?

[personal profile] dreamflower 2015-03-10 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
The Oldbucks crossed over the Brandywine to settle Buck Hill, but why did they feel they had to change their name?

Four friends, gen, this picture

hobbits and cart

Did this happen before or after the Quest? Where in the Shire are they, and what are they doing there? What's the occasion? Is anyone else there, out of our sight? Or is it just the four of them?

Here is my farthing, and I will have you know that by this weekend I should have the CD of the musical. But I can't understand the staging for Galadriel!

Sam, Merry, Pippin, Folco Boffin, Fatty Bolger/Frodo PG

[identity profile] blslarner.livejournal.com 2015-03-13 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Sam, Merry, Pippin, Folco Boffin, Fredegar Bolger regarding Frodo. How do any or all of these come to the realization that Frodo isn't aging, that their beloved almost grown cousin has apparently waited for them to catch up with him and is no longer their elder but a peer? What do they think might be the cause of his apparent agelessness at this time? What do they plan to do about it? Do they want to do anything about it?

The Shire, gen, any hobbits, art or fic

[personal profile] dreamflower 2015-03-16 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
In TH we learn about Bilbo that:

"he had still spent a deal of his time at quoits, dart-throwing, shooting at the wand, bowls, ninepins and other quiet games of the aiming and throwing sort -"

Hobbit games! In addition to the games listed above, we know they also played golf. So, how about a story or some art about hobbits engaged in such sports!

Samwise Gamgee, gen, slash, het, invention

[identity profile] grey-wonderer.livejournal.com 2015-03-21 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
This one should speak to the practical side of Sam's nature. After seeing a need for something (your choice entirely), Sam invents something that will make life in the shire easier and sets about using the item. What reactions does he get? Does the item work? Is it admired for its cleverness or scorned as a foolish idea? Who or what is it for?
You can have him invent something very AU or something that would be well within possible hobbit technologies. (Whatever those are). The item can be anything. I'd post an example but I might spoil an idea for someone. Amuse, surprise, or show us all the twisted workings of your inner inventor. Go as far as you like or stay within the bounds of canon.
