Nali’s Puzzles and Devices (Crossovers and non-Middle-earth AUs)

Dwarven Puzzles and Games; also needles, pins, and repairs made to pots and pans. (This is the stall for all crossovers and all AUs that are not set in Middle-earth.)

If you don't have time to read it, I read the entire story over voice-posts a couple of years back. Just click on the roverandom tag on the side of my LJ. It would almost be like an audio-book, LOL!

I don't know what came over me... but, if there is some way to combine concepts, characters, themes, or whatever from the comic strip Dilbert and The Silmarillion and then call it DILMARILLION, that would be brilliant.

You know how, in Unfinished Tales, there's a mention of secret cults started by Alatar and Pallando? What if these cults were actually the predecessors of Harry Potter-style magic, and what if they were Merlin's mentors? Or, strike that, what if they were actually Merlin? How did whatever powers they have transform into wizardry? Did they have kids? Students? Or is magic inherent? And what about the morality of giving powers to humans?

EDIT--I've been wanting to write this forever, but I don't have the patience or the Harry Potter knowledge to do so...

I'd prefer that the story be in the Ring War or at least very close to it, but if it's a choice between the story not being in the Ring War and there being no story, I'll go for the option that allows the story to be told. Looking forward to seeing your plotbunny!

I so don't have time for this, but what a great plot! :o)

There's a horrible accident with a vortex manipulator and Jack Harkness or River Song (or somehow, both of them together), end up going very, very far back into the past indeed, and wind up somewhere, sometime, in Middle-earth.

Can Jack bed at least one member of every sentient race? Those Ents might be a problem, but I'm sure he'll find a way.

Can River Song put Sauron's eye out with her blaster? ("You are an associate of the Doctor's, you will show mercy." "I'm River Song, check your records again!" "MERCY!")

Most importantly, who winds up with the Silmarils, or the Arkenstone, or the Ring? And when the Doctor arrives to rescue him/her/them at last, how much does he scold them for stealing them/it?

I wrote about the Doctor, Amy and Rory having a run-in with Gandalf (en route to Aman after the Balrog battle) once, but the idea of River facing down Sauron and making him plead... *gleeful noises*

I have no idea how in the name of fuck I'm going to do this one, but I think I have to try - here's a farthing!

Into the Woods to...destroy the Ring? Steal the Silmaril? Meet the Ents? Something else? Any Age, any characters, any pairings welcome! Het, slash, gen, combination...

All of you musical fans - this is for you! The cast of Sondheim's "Into The Woods" is replaced by none other than - our friends from Middle Earth! Anyone you like - from Light or Dark, the Fellowship, the minions of Morgoth, the Valar, Elves, Dwarves, Men of whatever Realm - just take it and run with it! Multi-Age is more than acceptable, it's crackish enough as it is, so why not?

Must include at least one song from "Into the Woods" as plot-relevant, rewritten to suit Tolkien's works if you like, or just based on the original lyrics. Also - which in which of Tolkien's woods do these characters happen to meet each other? Do they happen to start off in completely different forests, only to end up in a strange Wood where fairy tales of the Age of Men have come to life and they're forced to play a part? Run whichever way you like with this and I'd love to see what happens!! Can be Broadway play or film-based, or both!

What if some temporal anomaly sent one of the Star Trek crews into M-e?

How might they be received? Would they influence events? What adventures might happen? Might there be romances or even children?
