Don't throw rotten tomatoes at me--how about a Harry Potter crossover with The Silmarillion?

[identity profile] heartofoshun.livejournal.com 2015-02-25 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I love To Face the Wolf by Maglor's finch [may be found on ff net], but I am totally enamoured with the idea of crossing these two world's. It's a classic if you want to read it--a crossover with the world of Prisoner of Azkaban. I wrote this about it years ago:

"This is a wonderfully entertaining and emotionally satisfying crossover featuring two of my all time favorite fantasy-literature characters: Tolkien's Finrod Felagund and JK Rowling's Remus Lupin. The author drops Finrod into Hogwarts dying from the attack of a werewolf. It just gets more entertaining from there. Severus Snape initially wants to frame Lupin for the wounds they find to have been afflicted upon the stranger from Tolkien's world.

Hermione, obsessed with Finrod and The Silmarillion, more or less caused the whole mess. Of course, Hermione would have run across The Silmarillion and loved it! Absolutely in-character. Just a teaser, to show the type of elements one can find in Tolkien that are no-brainer cross-over points. If you love Harry Potter also, gives this one a shot.

The Hobbit-Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

[identity profile] grey-wonderer.livejournal.com 2015-02-26 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
The Oompa-Loompas have left the Chocolate Factory and when Thorin is searching for dwarves willing to go with him to the Lonely Mountain to take back his treasure, they volunteer. Thorin's reaction? What do the other dwarves think? After thay hear about the dragon, are the Oompa-Loompas still keen to come along? Just any general silliness you can come up with will be acceptable.

The Hobbit-Doctor Who, gen, Dale-k

[personal profile] greatandgrey 2015-02-26 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
An alternative take on the origin of Daleks with a Tolkien twist. Not all the dwarves escaped from Erebor during Smaug’s attack, but the survivors were trapped in the mountain. They hid in the shadows in fear and dreamt of being able to escape without Smaug noticing. One discovers a means to fuse their bodies to metal, and after working together the dwarves create a vessel to live in that would protect them from everything, including dragonfire. Smaug took notice and chased them out to the desolated City of Dale to destroy them, and although the walls of the city fell down on them, it did not kill them. And Smaug did not know the dwarves survived, protected in their little killing tanks.

As the years passed, the dwarves grew wicked and malicious as they upgraded their tanks, hellbent on the day when they can take back Erebor and exterminate the dragon.

And then came the day when a party of dwarves (and a hobbit) stepped into Dale and came across the Daleks.

The Silmarillion/Letters from Father Christmas

[identity profile] zopyrus.livejournal.com 2015-02-26 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Fingolfin and Lalwen led their people over the Helcaraxë without quite realizing how difficult the journey would be. But just as they begin to truly despair, the Noldor discover they are not alone after all--they have entered the land of Father Christmas. Will they help him fight the goblins in his basement, or will he send them sternly on their way?

Crossover between The Silmarillion and Tolkien’s Letters from Father Christmas.

True Blood/The Silmarillion crossover

[identity profile] binkaslibrary.livejournal.com 2015-02-26 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
For the fans of "True Blood" among us. If you've seen Season 4, I'm sure you remember the (in)famous Eric/Sookie shower scene. Here is the deal: what if in their blood-induced dream they didn't find themselves in a Scandinavian forest, but at the borders of Doriath? How would the Sindar receive a 1000-year old vampire and a telepath? Rating: teen or adult preferably. Let your imagination run wild, Truebies ;)

Gravity Falls / Bree crossover

[identity profile] suzll.livejournal.com 2015-02-26 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Grunkle Stan opens the Mystery Shack in Bree. Acts as useful/less-than-useful liason for the Rangers. Occassionally bites off more than he can chew in the magic dept?

Bob's Burgers / Silmarillion crossover

[identity profile] suzll.livejournal.com 2015-02-26 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Bob's Burgers on the Beach in Beleriand.

Some ideas...

Linda decides to do musical-mystery-dinner theater but then it gets crashed by a kinslayer (probably Maglor, who composes the Noldolantë on the spot). Louise makes a mock-up of Morgoth's crown out of her bunny ears and teams up with Beren&Finrod to try and get the real thing. Which famous Elves does Tina write erotic friendfiction of? Are the Fischoder brothers just Celegorm and Curufin in disguise?

This is very tempting. I'm not buying it yet - I have no idea how much I will manage, and I'm already fighting off the plotbunnies - but I'll think about it. ;o)

(Edit: how did you make the subject line so long? Mine all get cut off at much less words)

The Man in the Moon and/or Tilion, gen,Crossover, the Silm, Roverandom, the Hobbit

[personal profile] dreamflower 2015-02-27 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
One of the main subjects of Bilbo's poetry was the Man in the Moon. He was also a character in Roverandom, a wizard-like person who entertained children in his magical garden.

Was the Man in the Moon Tilion? Is that what he got up to when he was not pursuing Arien? And did Bilbo's fascination with the Man in the Moon mean that he was one of those children who had danced in the gardens on the far side?

Vikings in The Ring War - LOTR/Vikings TV series

[identity profile] rakshathedemon.livejournal.com 2015-02-27 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Your favorite character, or characters, from the History Channel's Vikings TV series, falls off a longship and fetches up in Middle-earth, in time to participate in the Ring War. The character could be seized by the Corsairs and be among the galley slaves freed by Aragorn; or the character could find himself saved by a Swanship of Dol Amroth, or even push out of the water near the docks of the Harlond (or the Grey Havens). What would Ragnar have to say to Eomer; and would he make overtures to Eowyn? What if Floki is found by Cirdan in the North? Would you like to see Lagertha ride with Eowyn, or with the Swan Knights? Maybe Rollo could attain some long-overdue glory on the Pelennor or at the Black Gate. If it's Athelstan who enters Middle-earth, will he befriend Faramir or become the new librarian of Rivendell (or both, and what he, or any of the Vikings make of the Hobbits)....Possibilities are endless, but keep it to characters from the TV series, coming accidentally to Middle-earth during the year of the Ring War.

Teen Wolf wolves fall into Greenwood/Mirkwood

[identity profile] kayleelupin.livejournal.com 2015-02-28 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
The werewolves from Teen Wolf end up in Middle-earth, making their way through Greenwood/Mirkwood (depending on timeline). They may or may not have brought humans along. They run into the Greenwood/Mirkwood elves, possibly warriors - wolf shape or not. Can the Elves tell that they're werewolves? If they're in wolf shape are they mistaken for wargs? Would they be brought to King Thranduil (or Oropher, if he's still King)? Would Thranduil or Legolas be with the elves that find the wolves, or any of Thranduil and Legolas' family? Will the characters leave the wood alive? How do they get back to their own time and place - or do they live out the rest of their existence in Middle-earth?

The Silmarillion/Arthurian mythology, gen

[personal profile] moetushie 2015-03-01 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Avalon's really Tol Eressëa / Maglor is actually Merlin (or, more likely, Taliesin) / I just want Silmarillion Elves interacting with the knights of the Round Table. Who is more morally perfect, Finrod or Lancelot? (Probably Finrod -- but they'd have fun debating philosophy, right?) Does Maeglin and Mordred drift off together under a dark cloud? What about Gawain and Maedhros -- do they agree that leading a bunch of fractious, occasionally murderous brothers are like herding cats? Big, murderous cats?

Aredhel runs away with Morgan, y/n?

I know this has been done quite a bit but, you know, *pirates*. And tall ships. Because I *love* the Pearl.

While "exploring", the captain and crew (prefer Captain Jack Sparrow and/or Will Turner, who ever works best) (who may or may not be working with another ship) are hit by a storm (and/or time warp). Somehow they manage to pilot her through the mega-storm and end up in ME where the Black Pearl is mistaken for an ally of the Corsair ships.

Anything, everything!

Silmarillion (or other Tolkien work)/Hunger Games

[identity profile] zhie.livejournal.com 2015-03-03 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
(Computer ate the first version of this, so this one will be short - sorry it's not too detailed.)

Silm characters, Hunger Games concept

Possible ideas...

* The twelve houses of Gondolin have a yearly reaping in order to keep people in line in an otherwise utopic society. Bonus points for mentioning the thirteenth house - you know, the one the capital - I mean, the kingdom - got rid of.

* In Valinor, after the return of the Noldor, there is a yearly reaping of the kinslayers as a remembrance for the Teleri who were killed. Why not - they'll be reborn (maybe) anyhow. Bonus points if Maedhros has his name drawn and Fingon jumps up and shouts "I volunteer! I volunteer as tribute!"

* Elrond wears very strange and colorful wigs and talks in a verrr-rrry accentuated voice and...

Oh, well, looks like someone beat you to that one.

But there's lots of other possibilities. You look creative. You got this.

Just... don't eat the berries.

Avengers/Middle Earth crossover, many possibilities

[identity profile] me-llamo-berry.livejournal.com 2015-03-03 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
...for pairings and AUness

What would happen if the Avengers ended up on Middle Earth due to some freak accident? In the middle of some interesting times so say during the events of the Hobbit, or the War of the Ring... or further back when Sauron first tried to take over... or even further back into the First Age? Who got caught in that? How do they react? Do they change the course of history? Because, let's face it, most of them will have at least heard of Lord of the Rings, if not watched the movies or read the books, and therefore have some knowledge.

Okay I realize that's vague so here's a few suggestions: Tony and Clint are two of the ones who end up there. Tony being Tony and unable to keep his mouth shut and also with his nicknames, calls Clint 'Legolas'.
Natasha takes offense to the mentality that women are only good in the home mentality.
They struggle between using their advanced technology and trying to blend in.

Comics could be used instead of the movie universe but clarification in a note before the story on what the Avengers are based on would be nice.

Middle Earth and Sword Art Online, gen or het, AU

[identity profile] me-llamo-berry.livejournal.com 2015-03-03 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Eh not likely anyone will recognize Sword Art Online. It's an anime that has a total of 49 episodes, and one only has to look on Crunchyroll to check it out. Anyways... Ahem.

It starts off about a gamer who gets stuck inside a virtual reality game with 9,999 other people, and they have to clear 100 floors to get out. Catch is, if they die in game... they die in real life. Can't really say much more without giving away the whole storyline, but that should be enough to understand my prompt.

When Kayaba made Sword Art Online, he came up with many ideas, and discarded them all... Except for two. One based off of a floating castle called Aincrad (which is what it is in canon), and one based off of Middle Earth. As he designed the game, he couldn't get permission to use Middle Earth as the base for his game, and as such, ended up with Aincrad. However, he accidentally put in elements of the scrapped Middle Earth game. It doesn't affect much... until Kirito stumbles across a room. It seems out of place, odd. No enemies appear. He puts it out of his mind, and later, when looking for something to do, ends up there with a few others (Asuna, Klein, Agil, Silica, and Lisbeth preferable; OCs or characters who normally wouldn't appear til later welcome though). They think it's just a fun little room to be in and relax outside of the safe zones of the cities... Until suddenly... They're no longer on a virtual world... they're actually in Middle Earth. What happens then? What do they do now that they are in a real world?

I'm really not looking for accuracy or completely plausible explanations. Just something fun to read that takes creative license with the universes. :)
