I'm so glad that they didn't retreat, Dreamflower. Frodo and Sam so needed one another and each other's form of wisdom. I wanted so to express just how and why Frodo would describe Sam as "holding my life in his hand," and believe I managed to do so. And it was a chance to plumb the terrible dreams Frodo experienced while in the tower.

As for someone telling the other side of the tale, perhaps that might come--once I'm done with my other B2MeM prompts! Heh!
