I think Elrond is delighted that Ereinion saw fit to assign Glorfindel to his campaign. My feeling is that they already knew each other from the High King's court, although not well, and Elrond will quite happily take anyone who can put some real sting into his war against Sauron. I'm just working these through one letter at a time, but I'm having fun with this little tale.
