Originally, I thought there might be a sequence of three characters, linked by tone and recurring motifs, and that the other pieces would correlate to the parts where the Irish monk in the song walks across the Alps to Romani, taking his books with him, and dies. But I couldn't quite work out which other two characters to pick or exactly how to handle it. Maybe some other time.
