Scattering Beacons of Hope

B2MeM Prompt and Path:She Walks In Beauty Like the Night, Red
Format:drabble
Genre:spiritual
Rating:G
Warnings:None
Characters:Manwë, Varda
Pairings:None
Creator’s Notes:Tolkien provided the sandbox, I merely play with the bucket and shovel he left behind. No profit of any kind is made from my fanworks.
Summary:After the Lamps were toppled, Varda thought long and hard about how light could be provided. The Trees gave light to Valinor, but what about the Children still to come?

Scattering Beacons of Hope

"What are you doing?"

"There must be light."

"But, the lamps were toppled and the Trees light only Valinor."

"Yes, and the Children will awaken in darkness and will be afraid."

"And you are … ?"

"I am placing lights into the sky. Melkor will be unable to dim them in their multitude. Whenever he looks upward, he will see a visible sign that we will persevere and never cease performing our roles as Eru decreed."

"And the Childen who are to come?"

"These celestial lights will give them hope; and hope, although a small, flickering thing, has immense strength."

Oh nettenya, this is absolutely beautiful and I love it. <3 It was so good of Varda to think of the Elves who would awaken under her stars, and to give them special, brighter constellations like the Valacirca. :)

Lovely Drabble. The stars are such a symbol of hope.
I hope one day to see them completely away from human artificial light.

Oh, lovely! I like this discussion between Varda and Manwë! Not for nothing is she praised as the Star-kindler!

I loved this determination to bring light. Reminds me of the saying "It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness."

I like this -- it's beautiful. The theme of hope feels very fitting with Tolkien's works.
