My reading of this is going to be fairly shallow as I don't know these stories, but I couldn't agree more with the overall sentiment and the argument you're making as it relates to the world at large.

Imagine what we could yet accomplish if we worked actively to grant all equal access to their potential.
This is a wonderful way of expressing it, and so true it kind of hurts to realize how few people seem to share this view these days.
