Do you know why they discourage commenting on stories? That seems a mystifying, almost cruel, thing to do. People have left the Tolkien fandom over a lack of feedback on their stories.

I can get someone not personally caring about feedback ... well, I really can't, but different strokes for different folks, so I won't judge someone for not liking or caring about comments on their work. :) So shut off comment notifications and don't read the comments. But to discourage it on the works of other authors? Wow.
