There have been occasional stories about meetings between Elrond and Maglor over the many centuries after the fall of Beleriand. I think I have one or two that I might have written over the years. They aren't common, though, you're absolutely right. And I don't think there is a lot of reminiscing on his childhood by Elrond. Of course, considering that the end of that period resulted in the War of Wrath, the fall of Beleriand, the "choice" made by Elrond and his brother, and the death of Maedhros by casting himself and one Silmaril into the flames ... well, there's a lot of bad there acting as frosting on the cake of his youth.
