Oh, I love this so much! :) I especially love that this book was Frodo-lad's inheritance where the Red Book was Elanor's.

Echoes of the Numenorean kings, I find, though this could just be me...Elanor is Silmarien, the eldest daughter seemingly overlooked (not by those who know the Gamgee-Gardners of course!) She is given a "lesser" role with her husband, guarding the West and a few of the family treasures (after all, what do most of the Shire care for what happened Outside?) while Frodo, the first son and heir, is Meneldur, the one granted the family name and traditions. And we know that ultimately Frodo's line fails to hold to his father's and namefather's wisdom, while Elanor's, the Fairbairns of the Towers, must have kept the Red Book faithfully for Tolkien to 'find' it so complete who knows how long later!
