Hi Dwim! When I wrote "Lalaith" I was firmly thinking "Nienor;" it's been *so long* since I have read this tale that I completely forgot the existence of the second sister!! (Bad Starlight... And what's more, for half the story Nienor herself is under a spell, so she really is not herself anyway. Even though, in those moments when she is herself, she still seemed to me to just not be all there, *but* this is not about Nienor...) So, of course, I read the ficlet again and was chilled again, even more so by how much more tragic and sad this unusual viewpoint makes the whole. You did capture her voice well. Watching events unfold that she is seeing but not really understanding, from her perspective, is something else. Chilling, like I said.

I confess that I did not buy Children of Húrin because I did not think I could handle reading that again. This story is just. So. Sad. And so dark, too. You are amazing for getting to the heart of it in such an artful way.
