They are. It was quite odd to imagine him as a happy, contented child while writing, and if you consider the many variables to the original story here, you get more than just one of the proverbial butterflies beating its wings... but I do like to think that the future will play out in a far brighter way, and who knows - there must be some prompts that will still lend themselves to the idea. :)
