Patience Is Not Always A Virtue - by Elwen of the Hidden Valley

Sorry mods. I'm not sure where you're going to place this one. I was inspired by the over-all title of this year's event and this one arrived in my head, almost fully formed.

B2MeM Prompt: Endings and Beginnings
Format: drabble
Genre: gen
Rating: general
Warnings: n/a
Characters: Smeagol
Pairings: n/a
Summary: Patience is only learned through practice.

Granny used to say that Smeagol was impatient; interested only in beginnings and endings. Hardly had she uttered the first word of a story, than he was guessing or pressing for the result of events.

Well, what of it? Who cared what came between the wanting and the having of a thing? What did the getting of it matter?

Now things were different. In the long years of his ownership, Precious taught him all about patience. Whether the getting took weeks or years he would have his precious again, for one trait he had retained. What Smeagol wanted, Gollum got.
