B2MeM Posting Guidelines

In just a few hours, I will be posting the first challenge for B2MeM 2013! We welcome and encourage our participants to post their creations (or links to their creations) on this community. As a bit of history, B2MeM was and continues to be an annual "holiday" for the entire Tolkien fandom. It is run each year by a handful of groups, but all are welcome, whether they are a part of those groups or not. However, because those groups have their own specialties, then there is a narrow but not insignificant range of stories written for B2MeM that would not be able to find a home on any of the sponsoring communities. For that reason, we created this community. All Tolkien-based work created for B2MeM is welcome here, but we ask that you please use the posting format below out of courtesy to your groupmates, so that readers know what a story will likely hold in store before clicking to read and can select content they're likely to enjoy.

  • make the title of the post the title of your piece and your penname, e.g., "Frodo's Big Quest" by FrodoFan and

  • use the header below and use an LJ-cut. Simply copy the HTML below, paste it at the top of your story, and fill in the information for each item. If you are linking to a story on another site, use the header as well.

B2MeM Challenge: identify the challenge the piece was created for, e.g., the archetypes theme for Day 1 of B2MeM 2013

Format: short story, drabble, photomanip, poem, sketch, et cetera
Genre: general, adventure, romance, horror, mystery, humor, et cetera
Rating: use either the G-NC17 or General, Teens, or Adult system
Warnings: include reasonable warnings for content readers might wish to avoid, e.g., violence, blood and gore, graphic sex, profane language, et cetera
Characters: a list of important characters featured in your piece
Pairings: a list of any important pairings in your piece
Summary: a brief synopsis of what the piece is about

[livejournal.com profile] indy1776, our intrepid tagging mod, has written a post about how to tag your posts here. If you're comfortable adding your own tags, please do, as tagging is a huge effort for our volunteers.

Any questions throughout the challenge, feel free to comment here, PM me, or email me at DawnFelagund@gmail.com.

Quick question - I'm about to advertise B2MeM on my tumblr, and I have heard from several people there that they don't have an LJ account and some are unfamiliar with the site or have trouble people posting here. What should they do, work with OpenID, or are anonymous comments with links to their work on the respective prompt posts permitted? I don't quite remember how, if it was touched on at all, this was handled last year...

Also, did the challenge day icons reach you safely?

No rush! I figured you were busy, just wanted to make sure. :) And thank you for the info! I'll pass that on in the info post.
