Pairings: N/A
Summary:  In the aftermath of war, not all feel reason to celebrate

We won.  But right now, it doesn’t feel much like a victory to me.

“Daeron, here’s another one for you.”

We’ve run out of shrouds, and the faces of those who succumb to their injuries despite the surgeons’ best efforts are exposed to all, staring blankly up at the blue sky above as I carry them to their final resting place.  The ones who died before the Morannon have been buried together in mounds of honor where they fell.

But it is left to me to enclose these heroes in clay, under the trees that border the field of Cormallen.

Oh well done! I imagine this would be a rather heart-breaking period: to have survived the Black Gate, and come so close to home, only to succumb. What a task for your shroud-maker/gravedigger to confront!

That most certainly puts things into perspective. How sad to be charged with a duty like that when others are unknowingly celebrating victory. Well done! This was very moving.

Well done. What a great point of view.

This so heartrending and so often overlooked.
