B2MeM Challenge: O72 - Occupations – Cook & N43 - Aspects of Aragorn - Strider
Format: Drabble
Title: Praise
Genre: General
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Characters: Original Character, Barliman Butterbur, Aragorn
Pairings: N/A
Summary:  In the kitchen of the Prancing Pony

So what, if it was Barliman who got the credit when the ale was particularly good?  It wasn't he who consulted with the brewer and ordered the best of his stock.

And if he was the first to hear the praise of the stew on a cold day, his weren't the only ears upon which the words fell.

But when that tattered Ranger from the north came in and quietly asked to speak to the one who’d made the ginger cake that was the evening’s dessert, it was she alone who heard “Strider” say, “It reminded me of my mother’s.”

Oh, I just *love* this! I like the fact that Aragorn knows enough to compliment the proper person and the fact that it brings a good memory back for him. Lovely!
