Elrond’s Secondhand Books (Rivendell)

Elrond's Secondhand Books

Books, new and used, in Westron, Sindarin, Quenya and Adûnaic. Fine stationary supplies; scribal services offered. (This stall is for prompts set in Rivendell.)

Comments are now closed but you can continue using the prompts; no claiming is necessary.

How to Post your Prompts:

Leave a comment with the subject line identifying the main characters, gen/het/slash/femslash/poly (if it’s not obvious), a brief description of the prompt, and possible warnings if needed (MPTTor SWG’s). The comment itself should be the prompt.

If for some reason you cannot make a subject line appear, please write and bold the relevant information as the first line of your prompt.

The subject lines and/or bold text will allow participants to easily scan for prompts they're interested in.

For example:

Subject line-- Frodo and Aragorn, gen, hurt/comfort at the Field of Cormallen
Comment-- While Frodo is unconscious after being rescued from Mount Doom, Aragorn cares for him.

OR

Comment-- Fëanor/Nerdanel, wedding night, sexual content

On their wedding night, Fëanor and Nerdanel end up not sleeping at all, as they are too busy enjoying each other.

Remember, no fanworks are to be posted in the prompts posts.

Elves of Rivendell, singing, drinking

O! What are you doing,
And where are you going?
Your ponies need shoeing!
The River is flowing!
O! Tra-la-la-lally
Here down in the valley!

Who exactly are the Elves who greet Thorin & Co as they travel into Rivendell? And what do they get up to when they are not catcalling random Dwarves? OCs are great, as would be cameos from known Rivendell elves. And given the timeline, extra bonus for including Gilraen in your story!

For a little extra inspiration, I have always loved this picture (http://postimg.org/image/tu8b5x52n/) of the scene (the Elves are in the bottom right corner, under the bridge).

I've already written a drabbleish bit about this where one of mine and Emma's OC's - Oropher's great-uncle Baralin - and his youngest son, Luthavar, who's closer to Oropher's age but is very mischievous, bring a shipment of Dorwinion to Imladris, and Luthavar gets the Imladrin elves drunk on it, causing this nonsense, much to his father's displeasure. *snicker*

Just a few years into my time in this fandom was when I first visited the Tolkien archives at Marquette University -- for those unfamiliar with the archives just click here (http://www.marquette.edu/library/archives/tolkien.shtml). There was a major exhibit happening, and so many wonderful things were spread out all over the two story building they were using for the exhibit. There was something on the other end of the room, in the corner, on the wall, framed and all on its own. I was drawn to it, walking past things that groups of people were gathered around, fans and scholars alike.

I reached it, and it was this poem, handwritten. I stood there by myself and read through the whole thing, and I know that was the moment I converted from casual fan to... whatever it is I do, this halfway realm I found between fan and scholar.

Therefore, I felt it only proper to purchase this one first. I'll see what I can do with Gilraen.

That's a wonderful story! And I can't wait to see what you do with the prompt!
