Summary: A long-awaited wedding makes Talk in the Shire.

S.R. 1463: The Wedding of the Year

This day has been a very long time in coming.
The bride and the groom are much in love;
childhood sweethearts are quite common in the Shire,
and their fathers' friendship made it easy.
Still, the gossip was there.
Thain's son, gardener's daughter?

Awwww. Childhood sweethearts. I expect the two families would have been close. So sweet.

The only family member I can imagine having any concerns might be Sam, just a little bit, thinking of "what his Gaffer would say". But I think sense and friendship would drown the Gaffer out fairly quickly, and as for worrying about the neighbors or the rest of the Shire, well, fiddlesticks.

But that gardener was also Mayor, and now the Master of Bag End and the Hill, appointed by the Thain's beloved if missing older Cousin who taught him so much about service to his people as well as to the new King.
