Summary: How did Merry win Estella's heart?

My Magnificent Merry

He came home a shining hero and saved my brother,
locked in a dark and dangerous place by Ruffians.
Gratitude soon became respect, and admiration became more.
He told me stories of faraway places,
and tales of heroes and courage.
He spoke of joy and sorrow,
of love finally fulfilled,
and so won
my heart
forever.

Author's End Notes: In my 'verse, Merry comes home to find Estella had spent the time of the Occupation sheltered in Brandy Hall. She's very grateful for his part in the rescue of her brother. The two spend time together, and he tells her tales of some of the wonders of his travels, and of Faramir and Eowyn, and of Aragorn and Arwen.

Rescuing her brother would certainly be a good start to any relationship. Bravo.

I like this and the way it's structured. I find it sweet he told her tales of courage and heroes when he was one of the biggest heroes of the war. How like Merry to tell of the deeds of others and downplay his own.

There's just something about a ramblin' man (or hobbit, in this case - LOL).

I like your version of how Estella spent the time of the occupation, and how Merry returned a hero and won her heart.

I had forgotten that she was his sister until you reminded me of it again. It's such a touching scene in the book, that rescue, and it must have been a very hard time for Estella, fearing for her brother. No wonder things grew out of that.

I am glad that she is able to find her fulfillment in him, and that her initial gratefulness advanced in such a manner to love!

Nicely done.
