DANCING IN TANDEM

It was a lively party that night. Nobility from throughout the realms had gathered. Candelabras gleamed, guests sparkled from diadems and too much drink, and brilliant light spilled from every castle opening.

Gimli found Legolas on a high battlement, the music faint in the background. He gazed westward, toward the harbor and the open sea beyond.

"You'll miss them," he said, joining his friend.

"I will. I have no promise of seeing my kin again, and my human friends … well, we've both lived through their short lives." Legolas turned to Gimli. "Are you sure?"

Gimli smiled. "Dance with me."
