B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: The Noldor - O67 Sarati and tengwar
Format: drabble
Genre: gen
Rating: gen
Warnings: n/a
Characters: Rumil
Pairings: n/a
Summary: Rumil thoughts on change from Sarati to Tengwar

His alphabet was becoming extinct. All because of king’s son, who invented new one. Or rather took what was the best in Sarati, and twisted it to his will. Rúmil was angry. All because Fëanáro was the heir to the throne. Otherwise the Tengwar probably wouldn’t be a thing! Maybe it was easier, maybe it was more fit to their language, but… Sarati knew everyone, what was the point in changing it?

Convienience, said the king, and ordered to change letters in every annal! Convienience? What kind of convienience was it? Rather brutal triumph of king’s will over the reason.

I never thought about Rumil before, or the pride he must have taken in his alphabet. This is a nice idea.

It's rather amazing the power a King has. Change this, change that, and people rush to do his bidding. It's a shame that one alphabet supplanted the other, but language is ever-changing
