Plot, by Senalishia
B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: “Crossover 1” - B14: With (one of) your favorite book(s)
Format: Double drabble
Genre: Crossover, Thriller
Rating: General
Warnings: No warnings apply
Characters: Maglor, Miles Vorkosigan
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes: Crossover with the Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold.
Summary: Maglor gets roped into Miles shenanigans.
Beta Colony had not been Maglor’s first choice--he would have preferred somewhere that offered ‘going outside’ as a feature--but its rigid-yet-brittle bureaucracy had proven undeniably practical in creating his newest identity. He’d go back to Earth next time, he promised himself.
Without warning, a short, rather striking young man sat down next to him and muttered, “I can compensate you for this later if necessary, but if you want to save several lives today, for the next ten minutes you are my boyfriend and we arrived here from Escobar for the first time yesterday afternoon.”
Maglor silently removed his earrings, which proclaimed him ‘single and not looking’, and slipped them into his pocket. He’d made greater sacrifices on less information, though not always to a good end. He did wonder what had marked him a likely participant in whatever scheme this was.
The young man exhaled a held breath. “Thank you. I’m Miles, by the way. Although you--”
Miles went rigid and Maglor instinctively followed his line of sight. Across the plaza he picked out a man who could be Miles’s brother--similar height, similar face, a bit heavier. He seemed to be looking for something, or someone.
“Seriously?” Miles hissed.
