B2MeM Challenge: B2MeM 2012 Bingo, Card: Crossover I, “... with a story from your country” (N38)
Format: ficlet
Genre: het, frame story, folktale, crossover/fusion
Rating: G
Warnings: original character death
Characters: Original characters, Erendis
Pairings: OMC/OFC
Creators' Notes: Yet another WIP that I didn’t post at the time! I should call this a fusion rather than a crossover, I suppose. The story is loosely based on the poem “The Phantom Ship” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who states that he derived it from an incident recounted by Cotton Mather.
Summary: The women of Erendis’s household tell each other stories on a rainy day. (Or, a tale from New England retold in Númenor.)

B2MeM 2013 Day Seven

Note: I owe the title of "Desperate Entwives" to a comment overread somewhere in last year's B2MeM madness. Unfortunately, I forgot to note the name of the genius who coined that phrase, so if it was you, please speak up so I can credit properly!

Here is a VERY late entry; it is late for the [livejournal.com profile] lotr_community March 2012 challenge; it is late for the January 2013 potluck and it is late for the 2012 B2MeM Bingo Challenge. It was finished, mostly, for yesterday's B2MeM Wildcard challenge to finish something. I cleaned it up today for posting, and then got a bunch of formatting errors when I previewed, so now it is even later.

Format: Ficlet
Title: Hope Is a Waking Dream
Genre: Crossover
Rating: G
Warnings: N /A
Characters: Fatty Bolger, Lórien, the Man-in-the-Moon
Pairings: N/A
Author's Notes: This is a crossover, LotR with Roverandom and The Silmarillion. I like to think that one way in which the Powers could help the peoples of Middle-earth was through the gift of rest and hope. And as for the Man-in-the-Moon, his realm (in my mind) encompasses and exceeds Arda, though his charges are any children who can see the Moon from whatever universe they dwell. It seemed possible to me that he might collaborate with Lórien to provide a respite for a weary prisoner. The title is a quote from Aristotle.
Summary: In dreams may sometimes come rest and surcease from sorrow...

B2MeM Challenge:“Of the Fifth Battle: Nirnaeth Arnoediad” (Alternate Viewpoints), “Crossover with one of your favorite books” (Crossover 1).
Format: Story (2700 words)
Genre: Horror, character study
Rating: Adult
Warnings: Torture, rape, mutilation, character death, largely stream-of-consciousness style narrative.
Characters: Gelmir of Nargothrond, Gwindor, Sauron, bunch o' minions
Summary:  Gelmir, on his way to the incident that shall spark the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, reflects on the circumstances that brought him to this point.  Sauron has a noteworthy cameo because he tends to barge into my writing like that.

Author's Note:  The "crossover" is technically with the story "The Renegade/Le Renégat" from Camus' Exile and the Kingdom, but this mainly takes the form of my shamelessly swiping certain themes, narrative devices, plot and character elements, and putting them in Middle Earth.  I will not claim that my story represents or mirrors Camus' story in any substantive way, but it is meant to have certain striking similarities.
Since the Professor has been spinning a lot, I figured it was someone else's turn.

B2MeM Challenge: Crossover/G51 ("with an action/adventure film) Games People Play/G51 ("King of the Hill")

Title: Gone is Gone (the Hobbit Version)
Genre: Folk tale
Rating: G
Warnings: N /A
Characters: Rose Gamgee, the younger Gamgee children
Pairings: OMC/OFC
Author's Notes: This Middle-earth adaptation is based on "Gone is Gone", a translation of a Bohemian folk tale by Wanda Hazel Gág. It is in the third volume of the 1954 edition of Childcraft. Those orange-backed books were a main source of my early childhood reading, and I still own them, worn as they are. This particular tale was definitely a favorite of mine and always makes me giggle hysterically.
Summary: Rose Gamgee tells the children the tale of Noddy Button, who gets more than he bargained for.
