Description: Paper dolls of Elladan and Elrohir als children. Traditional drawing with felt marker, coloured pencils and pigment ink pens in gold and silver on paper and Origami paper, the dolls on very thin cardboard.

Artist's Notes: These were originally intended to be illustrations to my B2MeM story for the same prompt, but in the story, the visit to the seamstress never happened after all. You might even ask how the paper dolls relate to the prompt: probably just by having been generally inspired by it and being drawn with the characters and story in mind, and perhaps the Nost-na-Lothion robes having been made for the twins for their first spring festival.

This was an experiment with Origami paper, but the boys don't really approve. Too girlish for them.

(Sadly, the gold and silver pigment ink doesn't come out well in the scan of these and the following clothes.)

Paper dolls! I loved these as a little kid, and used to attempt making my own. I really love the designs you gave to Elladan and Elrohir. :)

Thank you! :o) I used to make tons of them when I was small, and taking up that again for my nieces lately inspired me to do Tolkien-themed ones for them, so the idea was born. I've never been into dolls and dresses, just for paper dolls when I could draw and colour them. *g*

O.M.G! These are PRICELESS! And you made ones for us to color, too! Oh, Winterwitch, these are awesome! I love the ones you've colored, especially the Mettare robes! And the descriptions underneath of their uses AND the materials they're made from ... my head is spinning at the total *wow* factor of this shareable craft!

OMG! I love these with all my heart. I was so big on making my own paper dolls with my two sisters as a kid. I love these. I made of some for my youngest for her birthday just a couple of years ago. (We are ancient.) These are just too cute for words! You are really, really good at it!

We were first just making new clothes for an existing doll, but they loved my own dolls much more (they had to test-run them, the poor things. ;o) ). Of course, it's never too early to get the progeny into Tolkien, particularly if it's not your own...

Thanks! I imagine elves have the odd knack to make fabric keep longer than the average, and linen, leather and silk keeps very long anyway, but particularly the regular clothes aren't very likely to put that to test, I suppose. ;o)

And wise enough to make the fancy clothes also practical and comfortable. *g*

What a marvelous idea. I love all of the clothing, but am especially fond of Galadriel's contribution. I used to play with paper dolls and loved them. You've brought back fond childhood memories of more than 50 years ago :-)

And it's so lovely that you've included clothes for us to colour as well - I don't have anyone the right age to share these with, but I might download and colour anyhow, just for the feelgood factor and the memories ... loved paper dolls when I was little.

I'd never heard of or seen paper dolls before, unless you count the John Mayer song. ;) These are wonderful, and your descriptions of the fabrics are a treat in themselves.

I was surprised to see how many here knew paper dolls and had fond memories of them; perhaps it's a generation thing? They were easy to find in stationery and gift shops when I was small and often also even book shops, but while they still exist, you have to search for them these days. Making your own ones was the most fun, though, a proven means of passing tedious rainy holiday days.

If this works, this should be paper dolls Elladan and Elrohir in front of Bag End. If it does work I'll try tweak the others and post them too.
