Title: The Twins of Imladris as Paper Dolls
Name: Winterwitch / [livejournal.com profile] the_winterwitch
Prompt: Use the following song to inspire your writing or artwork: “O Lusty May” by Ensemble Estampie
Description: Paper dolls of Elladan and Elrohir als children. Traditional drawing with felt marker, coloured pencils and pigment ink pens in gold and silver on paper and Origami paper, the dolls on very thin cardboard.
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Artist's Notes: These were originally intended to be illustrations to my B2MeM story for the same prompt, but in the story, the visit to the seamstress never happened after all. You might even ask how the paper dolls relate to the prompt: probably just by having been generally inspired by it and being drawn with the characters and story in mind, and perhaps the Nost-na-Lothion robes having been made for the twins for their first spring festival.

Title: Gaining Favor
Author Name: kinirohana
Prompt:"In the willow-meads of Tasarinan I walked in the Spring.
Ah! the sight and the smell of the Spring in Nan-tasarion!
And I said that was good.
I wandered in Summer in the elm-woods of Ossiriand.
Ah! the light and the music in the Summer by the Seven Rivers of Ossir!
And I thought that was best.
To the beeches of Neldoreth I came in the Autumn.
Ah! the gold and the red and the sighing of leaves in the Autumn in Taur-na-neldor!
It was more than my desire.
To the pine-trees upon the highland of Dorthonion I climbed in the Winter.
Ah! the wind and the whiteness and the black branches of Winter upon Orod-na-Thôn!
My voice went up and sang in the sky.
And now all those lands lie under the wave,
And I walk in Ambarona, in Tauremorna, in Aldalómë,
In my own land, in the country of Fangorn,
Where the roots are long,
And the years lie thicker than the leaves
In Tauremornalómë.

After finishing this song Treebeard walked on silently through the silent woods." (The Two Towers, "Treebeard")
Summary: Dislike of Dwarven axes wasn't the only reason the Ents destroyed them as they ran from their crimes.
Rating: Teens
Warnings: Tree carnage, acidic sarcasm

Summary: There are many reasons that Foresight is commonly referred to as 'the Gift'; there are also many reasons to call it a curse. Finrod often finds himself leaning toward the latter description.
Rating: G

Author's Notes: I just keep coming back to the visions and Foresight thing -_- This story contains references to and is linked to my story Going Down In Sight Of Land, but can easily be read as stand-alone.

Summary: Elros looks back on a spring day from his childhood with Maglor and Maedhros
Rating: Teen

Beta: The indefatigable Oshun who not only shaped this story with her beta skills but shaped it with her B2Me entry as well.
Author's Notes: When I heard about the B2Me challenge this year and found out Oshun was writing a winter story I got delusions of grandeur and attempted to write a story that is a mirror image of hers. Her story is the winter and mine is the spring, covering the same timeframe and characters. Whereas she has written from the point of view of Elrond, mine is from that of Elros.

I strongly encourage you to read “A Sad Tale is Best for Winter” here: http://b2mem.livejournal.com/261646.html?thread=3574030 before sampling this tale. I also want to express my gratitude to Oshun for not only sharing her impressive and beautiful storyverse with me, but also for betaing this tale and providing the stunning banners that accompany the story. I dedicate this to her and her tragic, but always fascinating and not beyond redemption, Maedhros.

Title: 1) Title piece, 2) Springtime in East  Beleriand; 3) Springtime in Númenor.
Artist Name: Oshun ([livejournal.com profile] heartofoshun)
Prompt:  Tuilérë
Description: Photo-manipulation of copyright-expired paintings.
Rating: G
Warnings:  None

Artist's Notes: Photo-manipulations of the following works and/or cropping of: 1) The Maying of Queen Guinevere by John Collier, 1900; 2) landscape of Mt. Shasta by William Keith (November 18, 1838 – April 13, 1911), before 1880; 3) The Betrothal, Francesco Beda (1840-1900). I am flattered that IgnobleBard chose to write a spring version, with a different point of view, of my winter’s tale. His is a lovely story

Author's Notes: For B2MeM 2014 (and trope_bingo square for immortality.) While the Mediæaval Bæbes' song is amazing and wonderful, I also owe a lot to the song, "All Flowers Bend Towards the Sun", sung by Jeff Buckley and Elizabeth Fraser, which is just so awkward, sexy and wonderful.

Rating: G

Characters: Bilbo, Frodo, Merry, Sam
Pairings: n/a
Summary: During a spring visit by little Merry, Bilbo, Frodo and Sam introduce him to a Hobbiton custom.
Author's Note: In this story Frodo is 20, Sam is 9 and Merry is 7, or about the equivalent of 13, 6 ½, and 5 for the children of Men. This story happens between Chapters 6 and 7 of my story "A Place for Gandalf", though it is not necessary to read that story to understand this one.
I was originally stumped for a title, but then got inspired when I posted my other B2MeM project. The title is from "The Garden Song".
Prompt: In spring the greens are shooting up in gardens and in the wild; the streams are teaming with fish, and the hens are laying. Create a story or a work of art featuring a Spring seasonal food. Bonus for including a recipe.

Prompt: Exile - Enya (Lyrics)
Description: Gilmith, daughter of Mithrellas the Silvan Elf and Imrazôr the Númenorean, laments her lack of choice.
Rating: General
Warnings: None
Artist's Notes: [Mithrellas] was one of the companions of Nimrodel, among many of the Elves that fled to the coast about the year 1980 of the Third Age, when evil arose in Moria; and Nimrodel and her maidens stayed in the wooded hills, and were lost. But in this tale it is said that Imrazôr harboured Mithrellas, and took her to wife. But when she had borne him a son, Galador, and a daughter, Gilmith, she slipped away by night and he saw her no more. (Unfinished Tales, Of Amroth and Nimrodel)

Prompt: Write a story or create art about the midwinter holiday (Yule or another midwinter holiday of your choosing).
Summary: Elrond looks back on Yuletides past at two distinct periods in his life, nearly an Age and a half apart. “The famous saudade of the Portuguese is a vague and constant desire for something that does not and probably cannot exist, for something other than the present, a turning towards the past or towards the future; not an active discontent or poignant sadness but an indolent dreaming wistfulness.” (In Portugal, by AFG Bell, 1912.)

Title: Noise of Thunder
Author Name: Astris
Prompt: "There came a time of winter, when night was dark and without moon; and the wide plain of Ard-galen stretched dim beneath the cold stars, from the hill-forts of the Noldor to the feet of Thangorodrim. The watch-fires burned low, and the guards were few; on the plain few were waking in the camps of the horsemen of Hithlum." (The Silmarillion, "Of the Ruin of Beleriand and the Fall of Fingolfin")
Write a story or create art from the point of view of the foot soldiers or horsemen who participated in any of the battles in Middle-earth.
Summary: A captain of the Fëanorian soldiers in Lothlann finds herself caught in the flames.

Prompt: "I sit beside the fire and think" -- Bilbo's poem from Fellowship of the Ring, "The Ring Goes South"
Summary: Legolas has one, final favor to ask of Gimli, Elf-Friend.
Rating: General
Warnings: Brief mention of canon deaths
Beta: picara
Author's Notes: This song has always made me cry. I love it, but it makes me cry. And I've always thought it was very applicable to my head-canon for so many characters. Under pressure of time, for this event, I've stuck with the character I know best. But I may eventually make this into a series for the entire Fellowship and for some of the other major characters, like Elrond, Arwen and Celeborn.

Strangely, writing short pieces is extremely difficult for me. I hope this works. :-)

Rating: Teens
Warnings: Extensive made-up worldbuilding.
Beta: Elvie. Mwah! ♥
Author's Notes: This fic took me and ran away with me, I really have no other excuse or explanation for what happened. It is the expansion of a ficlet in my Winterlights collection, in which Tauriel gets permission from Thranduil to accompany her lover, a travelling merchant, to her homeland of Dorwinion.
