An Exception to Joy
B2MeM Prompt and Path:Noontide of the Blessed Realm, Red
Format:Drabble
Genre:Gapfiller
Rating:PG
Warnings:None
Characters:Finwë
Pairings:None
Creator’s Notes:Tolkien provided the sandbox, I merely play with the bucket and shovel he left behind. No profit of any kind is made from my fanworks.
Summary:Finwë returns from the Gardens of Lórien without Míriel.
An Exception to Joy
"She will not return; her spirit has fled."
Irmo's words echoed in Finwë's head. Around him, he saw the golden light of Laurelin illuminating couples walking hand in hand and children playing in the public gardens of Tirion. He heard artisans humming as they cast their shuttles or hammered the metal in their forges.
He entered his home, devastated. In the distance, he heard Fëanor asking a question of his tutor. He took a shaky breath. How would he tell his son that his mother would never return to him? In Tirion, there was joy; here, however, sorrow would prevail.
