Rating: Teens
Warnings: canon-typical violence

Then when I started writing, I got derailed by thinking to much about Carcharoth, and this happened.

But then the fire grew too large and too bright to carry my wishful thinking, and I knew. I think we all knew, right then.

Galadriel, Angrod, the Helcaraxë etc... belong to J.R.R. Tolkien and the Tolkien Estate. I am merely playing with them. I apologize for the terrible title!

independence1776: Drawing of Maglor with a harp on right, words "sing of honor lost" and "Noldolantë" on the left and bottom, respectively (Default)
[personal profile] independence1776
B2MeM Prompt, Card and Number: G48, Song Lyrics 1, "It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine."
Format: chaptered (will end up either as a novella or novel by the end of the month)
Genre: Gen, crossover
Rating: Teens
Warnings: Choose Not to Warn overall, minor character death this chapter
Characters: Maglor, OCs
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes (optional): This is a Silmarillion-Star Wars fusion. The rating may change to Mature/Adult as the story goes on; the warnings will change from chapter to chapter and thus the story functions as a general principle under Choose Not to Warn. The fic will remain gen.

For Star Wars canon: this relies mainly on the Prequel and Original Trilogies, plus a little bit of material from pre-New Jedi Order Legends and possibly the first three seasons of Rebels. I have not seen Clone Wars, so nothing from there will be in here, nor will material from other Disney canon. For The Silmarillion: the First Age timeline has been greatly compressed to fit within the Star Wars universe, from about six hundred years to three weeks aka the Imperial invasion. Other changes made to Silmarillion material are likewise deliberate.

Summary: Two years after the Empire's birth, Imperial forces led by Darth Vader devastated the Arda system. A few hundred Quendi fled the system's takeover. Among them is Maglor Fëanorian, the lone survivor of his Jedi-trained House. He has spent the past three years hiding in plain sight as a singer for a starliner cruise company. Now he is about to strike off on his own as an independent cargo pilot, unsure of what the future will bring him.

B2MeM Prompt and Category: Initial prompts: no. 8. Then I thought in my heart that we drew near to the Sea; for wide was the water in the darkness, and sea-birds innumerable cried on its shores. (Return of the King, “The Last Debate”); no. 15. Create a fanwork where a character crosses a river or the ocean. Daily prompt: March 18: Musical term: Divisi: Divided (i.e. in a part in which several musicians normally play exactly the same notes they are instead to split the playing of the written simultaneous notes among themselves).

Creator’s Notes: I transferred the scene of the B2MeM prompt from the Brandywine to the Anduin, as Oshun’s new bio of Lenwe speaks of the Nandor dwelling by the Anduin before they left for Ossiriand and the current Tolkien100 prompt happens to be “The Great River”.

B2MeM Prompt and Path: Red Path, "when he first stood near her and recognized her dimly through the shadows, like one who, at the beginning of the month, either sees or thinks he has seen the moon rise through clouds." ~Vergil, The Aenid
Format: Short story
Genre: Gapfiller, sort of?
Rating: General
Warnings: a Vanya doing something exciting? Also, I suppose there's a kind of male gaze thing going on, though not in the usual way.
Characters: Indis, Finwë, Fëanor
Pairings: Finwë/Míriel on the cusp of turning into Finwë/Indis
Creator’s Notes (optional): I took a turn left on the last Act of Kindness field of the green path I'd already completed, taking me onto the red. Not that I have any hopes of finishing that, but there's still some March left, right? Also fits this month's "Strength and Beauty" challenge.
Summary: Fëanor first sees Indis as she practices a traditional Vanyarin spear-dance. Fascination turns into life-long antipathy.

Prompt and Path: “On silver necklaces they strung The flowering stars, On crowns they hung The dragon-fire, in twisted wire They meshed the light of moon and sun.” JRR Tolkien, The Hobbit. Purple path.
Format: Ficlet
Genre: Gen/Gapfiller
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mentions of canon-typical violence
Characters: Dwarves; Thingol; Oropher; Thranduil; Doriathrim; OC; Mablung
Pairings: None
Creator’s Notes (optional): This is something of a footnote in my fic series 'The Elvenking’, and the half in non-italics will make its way into a future chapter of this story. You don't need to read it (I would love if you did!), but all you need to know is that in that story’s chronology, Thranduil was born in Doriath, spent his early years as a marchwarden and soldier, and is about 200 years old at the time of the Sack of Menegroth.
Summary: The Silmaril is set in the Nauglamir, and nothing good comes of it on either side of the ensuing conflict.
