"For you, my friend, no book of black or tan;
A greater gift I brought for you today."

"Across the fields of green and hills of grey,
I carried knowledge for you," said the Man.
"A brand new way to order words to scan,
A sonnet-form with which you can make play."

The Hobbit, sitting happy by the fire,
Smiled as his friend explained his wordy gift,
A puzzle sure to bring them hours of bliss.
Together, they wrote sonnets of the Shire,
And many topics covered slow or swift
Together, seated safe in Imladris.

Thank you! I had planned to write a sonnet on the topic of one of my other N42 squares, but then I just liked the meta idea so much more! And Aragorn helping Bilbo with poetry is one of my favorite things. :-)

see, now, when I try to have someone help Bilbo with poetry (or not...) he turns out to be an "evil" Elrond. But this is much better for Bilbo, and I love the interaction between Aragorn and Bilbo here! I love sonnets. :)
