An Unexpected Battle


Legolas fought at his father's shoulder. His arrows long since exhausted, he fought now with his long knives. The only fighter more beleaguered than Thranduil was Thorin, who fought to penetrate the shield-wall protecting Bolg. But Legolas could spare little thought for their allies. A large ugly orc dove beneath his guard. He crouched low and sprang up, his knife catching it in the throat. By his side, he felt his father turn, heard a flurry of blows.

Suddenly there was a brief respite.Their foes drew back. Above the clamor he heard a high clear voice: "The Eagles are coming!"

Very vivid, Dreamflower. You captured the heat of the battle perfectly, and managed to put Legolas, whom we know through LOTR, right there in the most trying moment within TH. Excellent.
