Oh, it's not a bad memory for me since I didn't experience it first-hand. I have done a lot of research over the years on the German military machine of WWII and their various and inventive ways of death. Those fit into other ages just as well because man is ever walking a fine line between good and evil. I really liked your story and I hope I did not give you the impression that I didn't.
