I'm relieved -- I thought it was just me. I can't read about the smoke rising from human sacrifices in Sauron's temple without thinking of the Holocaust, and that definitely colors my perception of the conflicts in Numenor.
Your story is chilling, and I find it more interesting because Phazganon also crosses a moral line.
