To be fair, I took a long time for it. With a sewing machine, the sewing itself would probably have been done in a couple of hours - this way, it's taken weeks. (But on the plus side, you can watch TV or listen to an audio book while working on it...) But my attempts to learn using a sewing machine have ended in such chaos and frustration - even with forgiving fabrics - that I've given up on it for good!
I put it together from scratch. Twice, in fact - the first attempt to produce Éowyn's gown ten years ago never really yielded a satisfying results, so I took it all apart and modified the pieces.
