I love this snippet into the lives and characters of Fíli and Kíli, in particular. You've given them a depth they didn't get in canon, and I'm glad that you made Fíli female! Doli and Fíli's relationship is particularly well drawn. The first ficlet has a sense of (ultimately) hope and optimism which I find very LotR-esque. Finally, great job tying the two ficlets together in such a subtle way!
