I like your Halbarad in this story; quiet, competent, no histronics, just telling it like it is. I like that Aragorn hears him too, and doesn't just flick off the offer of wisdom and comfort.
You've shown us, through both Aragorn's and Halbard's eyes, that its not easy being a leader of me. Beautifully done!
