The Guardian is the backstory of how Thranduil come to acquire the shape shifter's services, though I must warn you, it's the most fluffy of the three stories in this series. I am very glad to know that the story stands alone too, it's hard for me, with what's gone before living in my head, to judge whether of not I've managed that.
