Wow - thanks! In my head canon, Thranduil has every reason to be pissed at the Rodyn. Plus, I think Thranduil has every reason to be a bit arrogant. After all, he's the last elven king in the realm and while life in Mirkwood might not be easy, they are by no means a defeated people. That would require a leader with a lotta chutzpah and enough arrogance to believe he can do it.
And - of course - I always find conflicted characters fun to write.
Aiollda, now, roared to life in this story, without the slightest bit of prodding. She arrived as a full blown character straight from the prompt to write about your character's education. When I sat down to write, this story just poured out - and that's very unusual for me. I troll for plot bunnies forever before something hits my fancy - but this one almost felt like automatic writing it flowed so quickly. I was pretty tickled, especially since I don't have a lot time to play in fandom these days.
I actually have The Book of Lost Tales I, I will have to go look up that passage. Perhaps it will stimulate a few more plots bunnies for this series!
Thanks again, Pande, both for reading and sticking around to leave a review!
