Dear Gil.

Hope you've fully recovered from that nasty sailing incident. As they say, alcohol and boats just don't mix.

The attached came in on yesterday's ship from the Havens, and I thought you would enjoy the memories and prefer to get your message first hand. You'll be amused to find you seem to have started a tradition with the three E's all those years ago. Still no idea when they'll finally pack up and sail, but patience is everything, I suppose. Though no, I realise even a stay in the Halls hasn't convinced you of that. I find it a relief to be honest: I have met several old acquaintances whose stay with Lord Namo has left them subtly changed. It's good knowing I can't say that about you - life needs some constancy.

We'll no doubt see you at several-times-great grandfather's festival dinner. Always a pleasure to watch the heralds trying to announce several High Kings of the Noldor without offending anyone. Refusing the crown is the smartest thing I did at the end of the Second Age - I am so well out of all that.

Take care.

Elrond.
