I like the gentle pacing of this story, very suitable for an aged hobbit like Bilbo. I particularly like the beginning scenes with the description of his waking up and struggling a bit to get going. Also, his unflagging polite inquisitiveness and that he makes a new friend from Lorien on the way--as well as that big adventure at the end!
